The Sisters of Saint Paul in the Philippines gathered on Saturday, July 18, 2026 for an online sharing on Safeguarding, the third in a series of Spiritual Deepening Sessions. Dr. Prof. Gabriel Dy-Liacco, founder of the Catholic Safeguarding Institute in the Philippines in 2019 and current President, the resource speaker, tailored the one-and a half hour session to the reality of the Sisters as consecrated women sent to the apostolate in the Church, helping them see how the ministry of safeguarding finds true expression in their distinct way of life. In his talk, Dr. Dy-Liacco reminded the SPC Sisters that safeguarding is never a mere checklist of rules, but a profound, everyday mission flowing directly from the Gospel and the very heart of Jesus. His insights on the Tripod of Relational Safety provided the Sisters with a beautiful mirror for their lives, showing them how intricately connected Safe Self, Safe Community, and Safe Ministry truly are. Consequently, the Sisters discovered the path forward—that the vital mission of safeguarding begins with the personal commitment to a safe self, grows through the shared care of a safe community, and flows into their ministries as an embodiment of Christ’s protective love. At the end of the talk, the Sisters were grateful to learn how to protect the vulnerable and were inspired to transform their communities and fields of apostolates and into true sanctuaries of safety, integrity, and pastoral care.
